my life as a final year student

wah...i'm official a FINAL year student after one year of delay...and i got my final year project which i need to work my thesis on...and it's about ginger...although i din get what i initially want which is pharmaceuticals/cosmo-ceuticals...my project is all about natural products also somehow is related to medicine and organic is one of my strongest subject...let's hope i can do well on this project..
back to my ginger..yea..i'm extracting zerumbone..don't ask me what is it..i have no idea..go wiki or google yourself..hehe...but the lecturer told me this zerumbone thingy have its value in medicine lor...this is abit about the zerumbone:

• suppresses free radical generation
• anti-inflammatory
• suppresses cancer cell proliferation accompanied by apotosis
• counters HIV activity

sounds interesting??hehe...so basically..i need to extract that thing out of the ginger plant or ginger itself...i have no idea yet...actually today i need to get the apparatus ready because next week the person in charge of the apparatus is not here..i wouldn't want to delay my project since many people says that natural products took the longest period to finish if compare to inorganic and physical..i need to use chromatography to extract...of all thing chromatography..sigh...why la not use fractional distillation like we used to extract caffeine out of tea leaves...sigh
yea..and one more thing..i need to do some spectroscopy on the zerumbone...i need to do a NMR: nuclear magnetic resonance...what is NMR...ok..you know MRI..those hospital equipment?? MRI uses the application of NMR...NMR is not really my favourite spectroscopy..why la i need not to do infrared...sigh..

anyway..today is my first day where i got a class at 8 in the morning..hence, need to wake up at 5 plus...soooo sleepy...and already miss class yesterday for my industrial chem..and my kinetic already started abit...and my organic 3, thank god computer down..haha...tomorrow got briefing on project....wah...and need to rush to work tomorrow...sigh...busy busy busy...i want to watch hancock & batman..
